Don Quixote Statue

Philadelphia has many official “sister cities,” but South Kensington has some overseas ties all our own. With our diverse population including such large Hispanic and Latino communities, we’ve forged a special relationship with Ciudad Real in Spain’s La Mancha region.

In 1997, the city gifted us a bronze Don Quixote statue as a gesture of international solidarity. Standing 14 feet tall at 2nd and Girard, the statue reminds us all to “dream the impossible dream.”
