Just a few blocks from our home in the Crane Arts Building is the beautiful Chenrezig Tibetan Buddhist Center of Philadelphia, located at 1417 N. 2nd Street. Founded in 1991, the goal of the Center is to cultivate compassion and loving kindness based on the philosophy and methods taught by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso. While the focus is on the principles of Tibetan Buddhist thought and practice, the Center says “it’s not at all necessary or even important to be a Buddhist” to enjoy their programs and activities.
The Chenrezig Tibetan Buddhist Center offers Sunday morning meditation sessions, seasonal retreats, and Buddhism workshops and discussions. Participants at all levels of experience are welcome.
