Walter Mills Plays the Blues

Walter Mills grew up on Hope Street between Master and Jefferson. Though he now resides in Harrisburg, PA, a lifelong friendship recently beckoned him back to South Kensington.

Walter has been friends with David Livewell since they were young. Though Mills is ten years older, the two became fast friends on Kensington’s basketball courts. It wasn’t long before they discovered that they shared a love of music.

In addition to writing locally inspired poetry, David plays piano, while Walter is an accomplished Blues guitarist. The two have kept in touch over the years, and thanks to the Philly Block Project, will reconnect to present homegrown music and poetry at the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center! We can’t wait to witness the reunion on June 23.
