We can’t say enough about the great work of Kensington’s Sister Peter Claver Catholic Worker House. Or, it’s unofficial director, Beth Centz. Currently, Centz manages the group’s free lunch service and an after-school program. She’s also the House’s sole resident!
“We serve around 75 [people] some days, which is a lot coming out of a little, tiny kitchen,” Centz told Philadelphia Neighborhoods.
For ten years, the House also maintained a community garden at Master and Lawrence streets. Operating since 2008 as La Finquita, Beth kindly submitted these before-and-after shots from 1988!
