Steadfast to Strings: Devoted Kensington harpist shares passion to impact student at public schools

May 23, 2016

EXCERPT: As a freelance harpist, Steiner has performed as principal harpist with varied area orchestras, including the Baltimore Symphony, Delaware Symphony, Lancaster Symphony and Maryland Symphony.  Just this past weekend, from May 6 to 8, she performed with the Delaware Symphony at the Grand Opera House in Wilmington.

Besides these performances, another major activity involves not performing but teaching.

She is a key participant in Glissando, a program which introduces public school students to the harp and provides free instruction.

This is done through the Lyra Society, a nonprofit organization founded by Northern Liberties resident Elizabeth Hainen, who is principal harpist with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
