Preserving Philadelphia’s Presbyterian Past

EXCERPT: Philadelphia is a city of many unique pieces of public art. Iconic works like the LOVE statue or William Penn on top of City Hall are images that are important to our culture as Philadelphians and the history of our nation.

In the late 1800s, Alexander Sterling Calder was commissioned to create terracotta statues representing significant members of the Presbyterian Church who played key roles in the American Revolution and the development of the United States.
